Movement for Change to unveil political council on Friday

Fofi Gennimata, the leader of the new center-left party, Movement for Change, said on Wednesday that the members of its political council will be announced on Friday.

Kathimerini understands that the council will be small and will include the main proponents for the new party’s creation and the candidates that ran for its leadership.

These include To Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis, Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis and others. The council’s main function will be to draft the party’s main “political line.”

Moreover, the committee to organize the party’s first congress next year will be staffed by Christmas.

The party’s name drew criticism on Wednesday from some of its new members. Kaminis said such decisions should be made collectively, while Democratic Left leader Thanasis Theocharopoulos rued that “we haven’t started well.”

“Change” was a key mantra of the PASOK party during the 80s.
