Dangerous situation
There are indeed indications that Greece could finally be reverting to normality after almost a decade of financial turmoil and pain.
However, it must be noted that a country cannot be considered normal without having absolute respect for its institutions – especially its justice system.
There is a large number of government officials who clearly couldn’t care less about the institutional procedures of the country’s justice system.
A case in point is the stance of these people with regard to the alleged bribery of Greek officials by Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis.
Instead of seeking to get to the bottom of the allegations, they seem more interested in using it as an opportunity for an all-out settling of political accounts.
Misinformation and the complete disregard for the notion that anyone accused of an offense be presumed innocent until proved guilty make for a very dangerous situation.
