Pavlopoulos: Greeks know how to defend their national sovereignty

Greece is a nation of peace and democracy, but it knows how to defend its territorial integrity and national sovereignty, Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos said during a visit at the northwestern city of Ioannina on Wednesday, adding that the country’s borders were now also EU borders.

Speaking during a ceremony to mark the city’s 105th anniversary of liberation from Ottoman rule during the first Balkan War, Pavlopoulos said: “Our Armed Forces are in a position to prove at any given moment that Greece is a peaceful power which respects its friends, but has never been afraid of its enemies.”
