Guarding borders

The fact that the European Parliament stood up against the government of a European Union member-state that has exhibited serious xenophobic and autocratic tendencies and poses a threat to the values and cohesion of the European structure is positive.

It is also true, however, that the issue of migration is testing the strength of Europe and threatening liberal democratic governments.

Creating a joint force to guard European borders is now a necessity.
