TDF organizers announce Greek film lineup

More than 80 Greek movies, including 31 shorts and 50 feature films, will be screened at this year’s Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, which runs from March 1 to 10, organizers announced on Tuesday.

Greek films participating in the country’s biggest independent documentary film outfit tackle mainly politics, migration, human rights, history, culture and extraordinary personal stories.

In one of the most anticipated films, Kimon Tsakiris returns with the second sequel of his charming fest-pleaser “Sugartown.”

“Sugartown: For a Fistful of Votes” follows the deposed mayor of Zacharo as he plots his political comeback in the small Peloponnesian town.

Organizers have also prepared a special screening in memory of awarded filmmaker Giorgos Karypidis, who died in January at the age of 73.
