Presses rolling for European and local ballots

A total of 40 Greek parties will run in this year’s European polls, compared to 43 in 2014 and 27 in the 2009 ballot. A total of 49 parties had registered to run for this year’s elections but nine either failed to pay the compulsory 3,000-euro fee or to present a full list of candidates to the Supreme Court, which signs off on the parties that are eligible to run.
