Priests want gay sex tests for newcomers

A Greek priests’ union has suggested that aspiring clerics should undergo tests, including having their hormone levels checked, to confirm they are not gay. In comments reported yesterday, top spokesmen for the Holy Union of Greek Clerics (ISKE) said that, to avoid «unpleasant situations,» those who wanted to take orders should be examined by an endocrinologist, a psychologist and a pathologist to establish that they had not engaged in sex with other men. ISKE said it wanted to protect families from «the accursed disease» of sodomy. «Homosexuality is dangerous. Before Christ came to earth, he sent an angel to kill all homosexuals,» said Father Efstathios Kollas, a union leader. Another spokesman argued that a Church ban on pre-marital sex – with women – led priests to pick unsuitable wives, «the best of which is only fit for the circus.»
