MOTHER’S APPEAL: We have received an appeal from Mrs. Anthi Kavalieratou asking for a pardon for her son Giorgios Kavalieratos, who has been sentenced to death by a military court. PHILHELLENE’S DEATH: Rome – Riccioti Garibaldi, grandson of the hero of Italy’s independence struggle, has died after a long illness. He was the son of General Riccioti Garibaldi, second son of Guiseppe Garibaldi. He had taken part in the Greek-Italian war (1897), the campaign in Mexico in 1912, in World War I and the campaign in Libya. NATO AND THE CHURCH: London – According to a report from Naples, a representative of the Roman Catholic Church and a Protestant today blessed the new headquarters there of NATO’s southern command.
