A highly talented and sensitive songwriter, Antony Hegarty will perform at the Badminton Theater tonight.

This time, apart from his regular backing band The Johnsons, Hegarty will also join forces with the 50-member Greek State Radio and Television's ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra. He will present his latest album, «The Crying Light,» as well as adaptations that he has created along with composer Nico Muhly, under the artistic direction of Rob Moose.

From a young age, Hegarty was influenced by Brit pop, especially Culture Club and Boy George as well as Soft Cell and Marc Almond. He released his debut album «Antony & The Johnsons» in 2000 and went on to participate in Lou Reed's «The Raven» and «Animal Serenade.» He also accompanied Reed on his 2003 tour. His international breakthrough came with the 2005 album «I Am a Bird Now.»

Hegarty's compositions are special, even unusual, featuring extraordinary orchestrations usually accompanied by the violin, the cello and the saxophone. He recently embarked on a new collaboration with Marc Almond.

Badminton Theater, Goudi Military Park, tel 211.108.6024. Tickets can be purchased at the Public multimedia store in Syntagma and at Virgin Megastores.
