‘Giselle’ draws ballet lovers in Athens

HELBI

People have been flocking to the Greek National Opera Ballet’s production of the ever-popular “Giselle,” which opened May 10 and is the company’s last production of the season. Director Irek Mukhamedov has based the production on the classic choreography of Marius Petipa. Evridiki Isakidou dances the part of Giselle, an innocent villager, Maria Kousouni is Myrthe, queen of the ghostly Wilis, Danilo Zeka is Albrecht, the nobleman traveling incognito, and Giorgos Varvariotis is Hilarion, the gamekeeper. There are just a few more performances: May 17, 18, 22, 23, 24 and the last on May 25.
