Another Athens Festival season has come to an end. This year’s events wind up tonight with two theater performances as well as a concert by Paolo Conte.

Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot” and Dimitris Kourtakis’s “Kafeneion” are presented on two different stages at the Pireos 260 venue. Beckett’s classic play is directed by Lithuanian Cezaris Grauzinis and stars Manolis Mavromatakis, Maro Papadopoulou and Christos Sapountzis.

Kourtakis’s “Kafeneion” (Cafe) is set in an old-fashioned Greek coffeehouse. Nine men, who look like they have been sitting in the cafe for years, exchange confessional tales. Many have drawn on material from ancient writers. The production is also directed by Kourtakis and features Ieronymos Kaletsanos, Arto Apartian and others.

Accompanied by the Greek Radio & Television (ERT) National Symphonic Orchestra, under Bruno Fontaine, Italian singer Paolo Conte is set to fill the Herod Atticus Theater with his trademark husky voice.
