GREECE & WEST GERMANY: London – The Athens correspondent of The Financial Times reports that there are no indications that Greek-German economic agreements signed a year ago will be implemented, as many difficulties have arisen regarding the establishment of German firms in Greece. The Germans are seeking exemptions from Greek labor legislation as well as residence permits for foreigners in Greece. They have also refused to accept limitations on the number of German personnel employed in German factories in Greece. In addition, they want the German factories to be set up in accordance with the same terms and conditions as Greek industries. However, this would be catastrophic for Greek businesses that produce similar products. The problem was not resolved during Chancellor Ludwig Erhard’s recent visit to Greece. It was announced that Greece has asked for a re-examination of the entire issue in light of the new situation created by the country’s imminent link with the Common Market. ROMANIAN VISIT: Visiting Romanian Deputy Prime Minister Atanase Joja held a press conference yesterday at the home of the Romanian ambassador.
