Education’s dynamic is still there

The fact that a foreign country is inviting Greek universities to organize postgraduate programs tells us two important things.

First of all, it tells us that Greek tertiary education has not lost its dynamic, even if it has been badly hurt by certain fixations that seem to prevail in the sector.

Secondly, it shows us that Greece can play a significant role in the global education market, both by importing and exporting educational services.

Greece has a strong scientific community and universities that have the potential to shine, but their ability to grow is being seriously curtailed by the ideological rigidity of a conservative minority, regardless of its political persuasions. What this minority is doing, in effect, is forbidding Greek universities from participating in international educational developments.

Greek state universities have a future, despite the fact that they are constantly running up against the powers of the past, but only so long as the healthy forces of tertiary education override the minority.
