EOKA ACTION, I: Nicosia, 28 - Cypriot patriots took daring action this morning. In broad daylight, four men from the National Organization of Cypriot Fighters (EOKA) opened fire with automatic weapons on three British soldiers who were walking down Ledra Street, Nicosia’s main commercial street. Two of the Britons were killed and the third was injured. At the time of the attack, Ledra Street was busy with people. According to the British authorities, 49 British soldiers have been killed by EOKA since the beginning of the liberation struggle in Cyprus... In Famagusta, EOKA members executed a 22-year-old... who was working for British services. EOKA ACTION, II: Cypriot patriots ambushed a British military vehicle transporting members of the women’s auxiliary corps in Kyrenia. Two Britons were killed, but it was not clear whether these were British male soldiers or women from the corps. The attack occurred this evening 23 kilometers from Nicosia. STUDENT FEES: Around 1,000 students at tertiary institutions met yesterday evening at the Katerina Theater in Athens to protest the increase in tuition fees.
