Selection: Michalis Katsigeras

KARAMANLIS FOUNDS ERE PARTY: The prime minister, Mr Constantine Karamanlis, announcing the foundation of his new political party, the “National Radical Union” (ERE), yesterday evening, made the following announcement: “(...) The main cause of our people’s misfortunes is the inadequate organization and functioning of our public life. (...) There is no state in the sense of an operation that encourages and promotes action within the nation. (...) The problem which our country is facing is mainly political. (...) Increasing our national revenue, something that is necessary for our survival and to bring about social justice for our lower income groups, (...) is linked to this political problem. This is the problem that the Greek people are being called upon to resolve at the next election and they will resolve it if a new political force is created to act as a meeting point of all progressive and health elements of our time (...)” SPYROS MARKEZINIS AND EDA: Talks between the United Democratic Left (EDA) and Mr Spyros Markezinis regarding cooperation in the elections have progressed but have not yet resulted in an agreement.
