Selection: Michalis Katsigeras

FOR GLEZOS: London, July 3 – According to reports from Moscow, a demonstration took place in front of the Greek Embassy in support of Manolis Glezos, with the participation of Russian lawyers, journalists and veteran soldiers. No demonstrations are held in the Soviet Union without official approval, nor do they take place without some comment from Moscow radio. One group of the demonstrators entered the embassy and asked to see the charge d’affaires, only to be told he was not there. They were received by the third secretary, apparently with the minimum of politeness, as he met with them in the hall and refused to convey a protest to the Greek Foreign Ministry. Today the propaganda in support of Glezos intensified. The TASS news agency issued a number of protests by Russian academics, Patriarch Alexy of Moscow to Athens Archbishop Theoklitos, and by Russian workers’ associations. ROBERT KEMP: Paris, July 3 – France’s literary circles were today mourning the death of Robert Kemp, theater critic and member of the Academie Francaise and for many years a contributor to the newspaper Le Monde.
