Selection: Michalis Katsigeras

GREECE-BULGARIA I: Thessaloniki, 4 - According to reports from Alexandroupolis, next Monday (September 7) markers will begin to be placed along the Greek-Bulgarian border within the framework of the recent agreement between the two countries. GREECE-BULGARIA II: A pro-opposition newspaper yesterday carried an article by the former foreign minister, Mr Ioannis Politis, mentioning that according to a government announcement, Greece has agreed to cede most of the islets on the Evros River to Bulgaria. He then emphasized that given that this is a territorial change, it required the approval of Parliament, according to the Constitution. Commenting on this issue, the current foreign minister, Mr Stephanos Stephanopoulos, said that he had no knowledge of these reports. FRENCH ASSISTANCE: Paris, 4 - The deputy foreign minister, Mr Maurice Schuman, made an appeal to the French people over the radio this evening asking them to make donations to a collection for the earthquake victims of the Ionian Islands. He noted that France had already sent aid, but that efforts should not stop there, since 100,000 people, including many children, had lost their homes in the quake. He asked all French people to contribute to the cause so that France would be able to reconstruct an entire village, Aghia Efphemia on the island of Cephalonia, which has a population of 1,500.
