MIDDLE EAST CRISIS: The United Nations Security Council has rejected all proposals regarding the US landings in Lebanon. It is to convene again on Monday, and will probably discuss a proposal from Japan. Meanwhile, Yugoslavia has submitted a request for an emergency meeting of the UN General Assembly. About 100,000 demonstrators in Moscow threw inkwells at the United States Embassy and broke 50 windows. There were also demonstrations in front of Moscow’s British Embassy. China has issued a strong demarche to Britain to withdraw its troops from Jordan as soon as possible, warning that otherwise the consequences would be enormous. CYPRUS ISSUE: London, 11 – According to reports this evening from Agence France-Presse, citing well-informed sources, British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan is to meet shortly with Greek Prime Minister Constantine Karamanlis for talks on the Cyprus issue in Geneva or any other neutral European capital. A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed that there were no preparations for a tripartite meeting on the Cyprus issue, but that observations attributed to Prime Minister Karamanlis upon his arrival in Geneva had been noted.
