Selection: Michalis Katsigeras

UN CYPRUS APPEAL: The Greek government has achieved a particularly important political and diplomatic victory, of broad moral significance, in the decision by the 15-member General Committee that the Cyprus issue be put on the agenda of the Ninth General Assembly of the United Nations, which has already begun. The decision on the Greek appeal for the recognition of the right of Cypriots to self-determination was adopted by the UN General Committee at about 5 p.m. (Greek time) yesterday, with a significant majority and after a vigorous fight by the Greek mission in New York against the heated reactions of the British representation. GLYFADA PROJECTS: The government’s Coordinating Council held a meeting yesterday to discuss the landscaping of the Saronic coastline, particularly in the regions of Glyfada and Voula. NAKED DANCER: A tragicomic incident took place in the early hours of yesterday morning at a nightclub on Syngrou Avenue, when a young woman of loose morals, accompanied by two young men, went onto the dance floor and, clearly under the influence of alcohol, took off all her clothes except her underwear.
