Proposals for restricting demonstrations in Athens

I read with interest the article in Kathimerini English Edition’s August 18 edition as regards proposals to restrict the many demonstrations we Athenians have to endure every year.

I have a solution. Why not have one major facility (preferably in an outlying area away from the center of Athens) as a venue for all demonstrations, marches, etc. In this case, demonstrators could protest as much as their little hearts desired but not disturb the rest of us who just want to go about our daily lives.

Maybe even the unused Olympic facilities could be turned into venues for protesters. The government could charge a fee for permits and parking and make money on these demonstrations as well.

RALPH LANDRY, Argyroupolis, Athens.
