Selection: Michalis Katsigeras

KARAMANLIS AND MALRAUX: Prime Minister Constantine Karamanlis yesterday received France’s Minister for Cultural Affairs Andre Malraux for a discussion of bilateral relations in various sectors. Later on in the day, Malraux was received by Crown Prince Constantine, who later held a luncheon in Malraux’s honor. REACTION TO JAILING OF GLEZOS: The General Confederation of Greek Labor and the Athens Labor Center have asked the police for permission to hold a demonstration to demand protection of the country’s institutions from any outside influence. According to telegrams on the issue, they say the uproar over the imprisonment of Manolis Glezos is an attempt on the part of the communists abroad to blacken Greece’s name. They claim that those demonstrating in support of Glezos have nothing to do with the working class. They ask that the government enforce the laws on treason. Meanwhile, the federation of war veterans and national resistance have also requested permission to hold a demonstration at the same time tomorrow. The association of Greeks repatriated from behind the Iron Curtain are warning the government that the communists are planning to cause disturbances.
