Recycling plant ready

ANA

The Attica municipalities’ recycling and biological treatment factory in Ano Liosia, west of Athens, inaugurated by Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos yesterday. The new plant is estimated to process about 50 percent of the country’s waste and reduce the volume destined for landfills by 90 percent. Pavlopoulos said the nearby landfill, still in use, will be converted into a park for ‘environmental sensi-tization.’ Responsibility for solid waste management has now been fully tranferred to local authorities, he added.
