Year-round boost for Cephalonia

EUROKINISSI

Tourism Minister Aris Spiliotopoulos yesterday inspected a marina in Argostoli during his visit to the western Greek island of Cephalonia. The minister, who met with Argostoli Mayor Giorgos Tsilimidos, said a marketing campaign promoting the island is currently under way to help ease visitors’ concerns about the high number of earthquakes that have hit the area. Among the future tourism projects expected to be carried out in the area is the construction of a year-round conference center. Growth in tourist numbers on the island is currently believed to stand at 18 percent, according to the minister.
