Fur lovers set to descend on Kastoria

ANA

A model wearing a fur coat poses in Kastoria, northern Greece, where organizers of next month’s international fur exhibition held a press conference yesterday. The exhibition will be held between May 7-10 and will accommodate 130 stall holders from 11 countries. Organizers have also chartered two planes to fly in 300 visitors from Russia, which absorbs 95 to 98 percent of the region’s fur goods. Turnover in the industry is expected to drop by some 30 to 50 percent this year, according to producers in the Western Macedonia region. The reasons behind this expected decline are not just the general economic crisis but also the devaluation of the ruble, which has weakened demand from Russian customers.
