Bureaucracy and corruption

There have been charges that immigrants’ files have been lost in the provinces, even of forgeries, as well as accusations that civil servants are not serving the public and delaying the processing of applications for years. What is being done about this?

We have begun a concerted effort to deal with the unacceptable situation we found.

First of all we have organized the applications in such a way that immigrants can easily fill them out themselves.

Secondly, we have computerized the 54 aliens and immigrants’ bureaus in the regions that are now linked online with the Interior Ministry.

However, we have put an even greater emphasis on electronic management, so we are gradually doing away with bureaucracy and any instances of corruption.
