President Costis Stephanopoulos meets members of Greece’s Paralympic team at the Presidential Palace yesterday. After praising their performance — the team won 20 medals, up from 11 at the Sydney Games — Stephanopoulos said that, despite his initial ‘foolish’ fears, attendance at the September 17-28 Paralympics had been high. Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis also held a reception for the team.
