Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis...

Orestis Panayiotou/ANA

Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis and her Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari answer journalists’ questions yesterday following talks at the ministry in Athens. Bakoyannis stressed Greece’s support for Iraq’s territorial integrity and for efforts by the new Iraqi government to re-establish security in the war-torn country. ‘The borders of Iraq should be respected by all neighbors, who should refrain from intervening in Iraq’s internal affairs,’ Bakoyannis said. ‘Iraq seeks closer relations with Turkey and all its neighbors based on mutual respect and non-intervention in the internal affairs of any country,’ Zebari said. Bakoyannis also told Zebari, who was on his first visit to Athens, that Greece was willing to boost its business presence in Iraq.
