Ancient bronze statue...

MINISTRY OF CULTURE

This newly discovered ancient bronze statue of a naked youth, believed to represent an athlete, is shown in this photo released by the Ministry of Culture. The 1.43-meter-high work was accidentally caught in the nets of a fishing trawler last Thursday to the west of the island of Kythnos, in the Cyclades, at a depth of some 450 meters. The trawler’s captain handed the find over to Lavrion port authorities on Friday, and it is now being conserved.
