A worker at the construction...

ALEXANDROS BELTES/ANA

A worker at the construction site of the Haidari metro station in western Athens yesterday. The metro station is expected to be completed by the end of 2009 and is estimated to be used by 30,000 passengers daily. Once completed, commuters will reach Syntagma Square in central Athens from Haidari in nine minutes, a journey that currently takes about 30 minutes by car. Expansion plans for the metro include the line later linking Haidari with Piraeus.
