Man and two children found dead in pool

A 40-year-old Georgian man and his two adolescent children were found drowned yesterday in the pool of a villa in the coastal suburb of Vari where the man had been employed.

According to police, the likeliest explanation behind the tragedy is that one of the children – the 12-year-old boy or the 15-year-old girl – had fallen into the pool and the other two family members had jumped in to help but had drowned in the effort. Still police had not ruled out other scenarios late last night although there was no indication that there had been any foul play involved.

A coroner said the deaths probably occured on Tuesday night. At the time the owner of the villa, the former wife of a ship owner, had been on vacation with the Georgian man’s wife.
