Farmers in Serres, northern Greece, are seeking damages from the government after a pack of wild pigs from Bulgaria entered the country and completely destroyed their crops, Athens News Agency (ANA) reported yesterday.

The pack of some 200 animals is believed to have entered Greece in order to escape from recent forest fires in neighboring Bulgaria.

Farmers in the mountainside community of Agistro, located north of Serres, have blamed the hungry wild boars for eating up their corn produce, ANA added.

Local residents are seeking help from local prefectural officials to take care of the situation while farmers have applied for compensation for the damage caused by the wild pigs.
