A Greek man who shared a flight from the USA to Europe with a US national diagnosed with a dangerous strain of tuberculosis has been located and is to undergo medical tests soon, health authorities said yesterday.

There are no serious concerns as the man has not shown any symptoms, said Yiannis Pierroutsakos, head of the Hellenic Center for Infectious Diseases Control (KEEL).

More than 80 passengers on the two transatlantic flights boarded by Andrew Speaker, 31, last month have been asked to undergo tests. Those who sat near Speaker on a flight from Atlanta to Paris on May 12 and from Prague to Montreal on May 24 are to be tested. Greek health authorities have said Speaker, who stayed in Athens, Santorini and Myconos between May 14 and 21, did not pose a health threat to those who came into contact with him for less than eight hours.
