Monday

Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis to hold a press conference at noon at City Hall heralding the performance of a concert entitled “Seferis-Cavafis: The Great Meeting.” The concert, to be conducted by Dimitris Papadimitriou, will be held on Saturday September 6 at 9 p.m. at Athens’s Herod Atticus Theater.

The Agriculture Ministry is organizing the first panhellenic exhibition of traditional products by local women’s cooperatives. Parliament speaker Dimitris Sioufas will open the exhibition at Zappeion Hall. As part of the exhibition, a conference on “Women’s Cooperatives” will be held tomorrow with keynote speaker Deputy Agriculture Minister Costas Kiltidis.

Tuesday

The ELPA Road Assistance organization to hold a press conference on “The postponement of the first international Halkidiki rally” at 12.30 p.m. at its offices in Aghia Paraskevi, northern Athens.

Wednesday

Members of the Federation of Small-Industry Unions of Athens to stage a rally at 7.30 p.m. in Omonia Square to protest the new tax measures. The Communist Party-affiliated PAME union to participate.

Thursday

Communist Party-affiliated PAME union to stage a demonstration at 7 p.m. in Omonia Square to protest the government’s social security policy.

Friday

The 73rd International Thessaloniki Fair opens its doors at the Helexpo fairground in Thessaloniki. Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis will make the opening address. Through September 14.

Saturday

The fourth Business Forum opens at the Helexpo fairground in Thessaloniki. The forum will focus on two topics: “ECO Forum: Public Authorities and the Environment” and “ECO2 Forum: Enterprises and the Environment.” To September 9. For further details, log on to www.helexpo.gr.
