The US Embassy in Athens and the US Consulate General in Thessaloniki will remain closed today as a sign of respect for Gerald R. Ford, the 38th president of the United States who passed away on December 26, 2006.

Hellenic Stock Exchanges SA (HSE) Chairman Iakovos Georganas and Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) Chairman Spyros Kapralos hold a New Year’s celebration at 10 a.m. at the ASE, 10 Sophocleous Street.

Stores and supermarkets will remain closed today because they were open on the last day of the year. However, banks will be open for business.
