Fourteen people were injured, four of them seriously, on Saturday when a car drove into a cafeteria in Didymoteicho in northeastern Greece, authorities said.

The 35-year-old driver, who was unharmed, lost control of the vehicle at about 12.15 p.m. when he attempted to pass another car outside the corner cafe.

The vehicle smashed into the cafeteria’s front window, dragging with it tables and chairs, and injuring patrons, all between the ages of 18-26.

Two people who suffered serious leg and back injuries were taken to a hospital in nearby Alexandroupolis while the others received medical treatment in Didymoteicho.

Authorities said that the driver, who was not identified, was also taken to a hospital and then to a police station for questioning.
