Candles were placed...

GIORGOS FOTIADIS/ANA/MEGAPRESS

Candles were placed in Aristotelous Square in Thessaloniki yesterday to form the shape of the symbolic red ribbon used to highlight AIDS awareness. The event was held to mark the occasion of World AIDS Day. Some 40 million people are infected by the disease worldwide. In Greece, doctors said that 39 people were diagnosed with AIDS in the first six months of the year, mostly as a result of sexual contact.
