Members of the Communist Party-affiliated PAME union attempt...

MARGARITA KIAOU/ANA

Members of the Communist Party-affiliated PAME union attempt to climb over a gate at the Transport Ministry in Athens after being refused a meeting with Minister Costis Hatzidakis to discuss the change in the price of public transport fares. The unionists were turned away by policemen. The new prices represent a rise for most commuters but the cost of a ticket that allows unlimited travel for 90 minutes was cut from 1 euro to 80 cents.
