A stretch of the new Hymettus peripheral highway in eastern Athens lies empty yesterday ahead of its official inauguration by Prime Minister Costas Simitis today. Use of the road, which will join Katehaki Avenue and the southern suburbs of Argyroupolis and Ilioupolis with the Attiki Odos highway, will carry a 1.80-euro toll charge.
