Pedestrians and a cyclist pass through the recently reopened Ledra Street in the divided capital of Nicosia yesterday. Cyprus President Dimitris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat are today scheduled to begin talks aimed at paving the way for an eventual peace settlement. Both men say they are determined to end the island’s 34-year division.
