A statue...

MARIA MAROYIANNI/ANA

A statue is seen yesterday in the garden of the late sculptor Yiannis Pappas, whose house in Zografou in eastern Athens was given to the Benaki Museum by the artist’s family. Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos inaugurated the new museum yesterday and called it a ‘sacred site and a nucleus of civilization.’ Pappas used the house as his workshop and Benaki Museum director Angelos Delivorrias said that the spirit of the sculptor’s work would be kept alive.
