A hand grenade...

SIMELA PANTZARTZI/ANA

Police explosives experts carry away a harmless hand grenade that briefly caused panic in the center of the capital yesterday. A road in central Athens was cordoned off after police officers found a hand grenade in a large plant pot some 100 meters from the Environment and Public Works Ministry on Harilaou Trikoupi Street. The hand grenade turned out to be a dummy but this was only discovered after explosives experts arrived at the scene to examine the object. The street was re-opened and the hand grenade was sent to a police laboratory for further testing.
