Hotelier charged with promoting pedophilia

A 36-year-old hotelier from Karpathos, alleged to have advertised free holidays for pedophiles if they brought children with them, faced a prosecutor yesterday.

The man, believed to be a member of an international ring of pedophiles, was traced by Greek police working with regional counterparts and Interpol.

Apart from allegedly promoting his hotel as a place where pederasts – including himself – could indulge themselves with impunity, the 36-year-old is believed to have traded child pornography on the Internet.

A search of his hotel revealed six computer hard drives and a digital camera that allegedly contained pornographic footage of children.

The suspect has been charged with trading in child pornography and sex tourism.
