Officers ‘tried to sell’ police violence videos

Internal affairs agents are seeking two police officers believed to have approached television channels to sell them amateur videos of police violence, it was revealed yesterday.

The two officers allegedly sought between 300 and 3,000 euros per video, according to the level of violence displayed.

Meanwhile, two of the six policemen seen abusing a man at a police station in Attica, in a video aired on TV on Monday night, were yesterday suspended after it emerged that they were the guards of a deputy minister and a PASOK MP.

Also yesterday, an investigating magistrate issued a warrant for the arrest of the officer seen beating and humiliating two foreign detainees at the Omonia police station in a video aired last month. The suspect has been implicated in a similar beating at the same police station which has allegedly been captured on another video.
