Enraged father kills daughter

A 33-year-old man allegedly stabbed to death his infant daughter in Tavros, southern Athens, yesterday after having barged into the home of his estranged wife.

Police said the unidentified suspect broke into the home in the early morning hours yesterday and stabbed his wife’s 44-year-old partner while in a state of blind rage.

He then stabbed his own 22-month-old daughter and threatened to kill his wife if she went ahead with divorce procedures against him, according to police.

The infant was confirmed dead shortly afterward at the hospital while the 44-year-old man suffered slight injuries.

Authorities had issued a restraining order against the suspect, a Syrian national, forbidding him to approach his family.

He was arrested yesterday and was expected to be charged later in the day.
