National Theater...

G. NIKOLAIDIS/EUROKINISSI

A worker takes part in the renovation of the National Theater in central Athens, which Culture Minister Michalis Liapis visited yesterday. He labeled the building, designed by Ernst Ziller, as one of the city’s ‘jewels’ and said that work would be completed in time so the theater can reopen in the new season, which begins next September. The National Theater complex, comprising three buildings from different eras, will include a new structure, modern stage equipment, better seating with stalls and boxes and a new 260-300-seat theater for the New Stage (Nea Skini).
