Clean Monday tradition...

Windy conditions yesterday favored kite flying as enthusiasts flocked to seaside areas and Philopappou, close to the Acropolis, to take part in the Clean Monday tradition. But the Public Power Corporation (PPC) may not have such a rosy view of the annual event, since kites got tangled in power lines across the city, causing electricity blackouts in Glyfada, Faliron and Peristeri, among other areas. Crews on standby eventually restored power to the areas affected, PPC said.
