MARGARITA KIAOU/ANA

Bathers lie on the beach in Palaio Faliron, southern Athens, yesterday, as the temperature in the city rose to 30C (86F), seven degrees Celsius above the average for May. Weathermen said the warmer weather was normal for the beginning of May as over the last decade the temperature has usually reached 30C during the first 10 days of the month.
