Triggering protests...

Aris Messinis/AFP

An employee of OTE telecom carries a banner saying 'Raus' (German for 'out') in central Athens yesterday during a protest against plans to sell a stake in the former Greek telecom monopoly to Deutsche Telekom. A German flag defaced with a swastika (pictured behind the protester) was burnt outside Parliament after the rally. The German telecoms giant announced its plans to buy a 20 percent stake in OTE last month, triggering protests by staff who object to foreign control of the state-backed provider.
