Drug busts at Athens airport and on Crete

Drugs squad officers at Athens International Airport on Saturday arrested a man who had just stepped off a flight from London after finding a large stash of drugs in his luggage, while police in Crete caught two men described as “hardened drug dealers.”

Police arrested a 23-year-old man at the airport after he arrived from London on an Olympic Airlines flight. Police officers said they found 14.2 kilos of drugs in his suitcase, but did not specify the types of drugs nor the suspect’s name and nationality.

Meanwhile, a major police operation near Hania in Crete on Saturday netted drugs with a street value of some 125,000 euros after arresting two Albanian men, aged 26 and 29, who were allegedly dealing in illegal substances.

Police found some 500 grams of heroin divided into 31 packets as well as 170 grams of cocaine at the pair’s home.
