Missing Greek found in German airport

A 38-year-old mentally ill Greek man, who was reported missing more than a month ago, has been found wandering about Hannover Airport in Germany, where it is thought that he spent at least a week.

Authorities said yesterday that the man, who was not named, was only discovered after a travel agent working at the airport reported seeing him on consecutive days.

German police said that he did not have a passport or any cash on him and that it was unclear how or why he arrived in Hannover as he did not know anyone there.

His experience is reminiscent of Stephen Spielberg’s 2004 comedy drama “The Terminal” in which Tom Hanks plays a man stuck at an airport in New York for nine months. The film is thought to have been inspired by the story of an Iranian man who spent 18 years living in Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport.
